The Cat Torture Crisis
Thousands of defenseless cats and kittens are suffering in the absence of animal cruelty laws in China, where videos of brutal cat torture make their rounds online. This content is spreading rapidly, with thousands of people from outside of China participating in creating and distributing this violent content.
Since at least 2023, an organized criminal network promoted by a 28 year old man living in Tokyo has been responsible for the torture of thousands of cats for “entertainment”
Members of this network actively recruit young people to join, encouraging them to participate in cat torture and other crimes.
This network operates across mainstream social media platforms and messaging apps.
