Body:

Subject: I urge Huazhong Agricultural University to expel the student who has abused multiple cats on campus.
Body:
The reputation of Huazhong Agricultural University has spread across the world but not in a positive way. In civilised countries animal abuse is condemned and those committing such crimes are punished. It is with great sadness and concern that animal advocates around the globe have learnt that a student at Huazhong Agricultural University, Su Zhipeng 苏志鹏, majoring in sociology, has tortured cats and, instead of punishing him, the University has tried to cover this up. He has brought international shame on the University and has damaged China's reputation in the world yet no action has been taken against him.
The torture of animals on Chinese social media and on the platform Telegram often includes children watching and/or participating in the torture of cats. There is proven evidence that animal abusers move on to abusing people and this then becomes a much bigger and worrying concern for society as a whole. All this impacts on the mental health of children, young people and adults as it is not normal, healthy behaviour and in the end distorts what is acceptable as normal in society.
It is ironic that this student is in fact studying sociology and it is even more of a reason for the university to take strong action against him.
Educational institutions and the students who are fortunate enough to be studying there should be setting an example in behaviour and work to make their country a better place, wherever they are in the world. It is therefore very disappointing that instead of taking action, Huazhong Agricultural University has in fact covered up the evil and sick activities of their student, Su Zhipeng 苏志鹏 .
I am sending this letter in the hope that the University recognises its error of judgement and takes the appropriate action of expelling this student who has brought shame on the University and China.

NAME: Su Zhipeng
LOCATION: Wuhan, China
OCCUPATION: student at Huazhong Agricultural University, majoring in Sociology
KNOWN FOR: Killed over 20 cats in campus. Infiltrated in cat lover groups and provoked.
In December 2024, Su Zhipeng, a student at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), admitted to abusing and killing more than 20 cats on campus. These cats, many of which had names, were cared for and loved by students at the university. Despite the severity of the allegations and hundreds of reports filed by students, the university issued only a warning to Su. He continued attending classes without any publicly disclosed disciplinary action. Su later attributed his actions to a 'sleep disorder.' Subsequently, HZAU allowed him to pause his studies and return home for treatment of the alleged condition.
HZAU’s inaction has caused significant complaints not only from its own students but also from animal lovers and advocates worldwide. If the university does not hold Su accountable, it risks damaging its reputation and raising concerns about its commitment to ethical standards. This lack of response could also strain HZAU’s relationships with its partner universities globally, as many may question its stance on such serious matters of cruelty.
