According to police investigations, the cat was kidnapped in a community in Funan County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province. The cow cat was first hidden in the trunk of the car, and was punctured by "Jack Latiao" with a hot iron fork while being locked up in a small cage.

After a day and a half without water and food (at noon on March 15), the cat was dragged to a small place in the woods where he endured cruel methods of torture by Xu, such as hanging with electrical wires, drowning, beaten, poked and dragged.

The video was shared to secret animal crush groups hosted on QQ and Telegram and was eventually leaked to the public. It was observed that the cow cat never wailed and even tried to defend himself while being tortured, even at the last moment. He held a cat fighting posture during his torment and stared at the abuser with a fire in his eyes.

The Funan police also found a large number of videos of killing cats that Xu had filmed and downloaded on his mobile phone. Xu was released with no punishment for the killing of cats. The news sparked outrage by Cat Lovers in China and they quickly noticed evidence of Xu using the same cooking tools found in his food videos to torture cats.
